Recently, the Bierker family was presented a Warrior Quilt by Paul Letso, one of our very own Shults Ford of Harmarville employees. Rachele Beirker entered to win the quilt for the Mother’s Day Race for the Cure and they are definitely excited to be able to display this Warrior Quilt in their home and know that people are everywhere are fighting for a cure for breast cancer..
So what exactly is a Warrior Quilt?
The Neighborhood Ford Store has partnered with the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure for the Annual Warrior Quilt Project. Warrior Quilts are made of fabric squares that are decorated at a Neighborhood Ford Store booth at the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure. The squares are filled with messages of hope and encouragement; they honor breast cancer survivors, as well as remembering loved ones who have passed. These quilts remind us all how many people breast cancer affects, but they also show us that we are doing everything we can to defeat it.
For Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October, there are several quilts donated to across the United States, to hospitals, clinics, and breast cancer treatment centers.
We were so proud to be able to present a Warrior Quilt to Rachele Bierker and her family and if you would like to find out more about how you can help in the fight against breast cancer, visit the Neighborhood Ford Store booth and the Pittsburgh Race for the Cure!
