It’s National Tire Safety Week! This week is the Rubber Manufacturers Association (RMA) annual tire safety week so what better to talk about than the condition of your tires?
The tires are the only part of your vehicle that makes contact with the road so making sure that they are properly kept up with is an essential tool when it comes to safety.
- Inflate- Make sure that you check your tire pressure monthly. It is hard to tell with the naked eye if a tire is low. There are manufacturer specifications that are located on the tire so that you know the exact amount of air that should be in the tire.
- Rotate- You need to rotate your tires every 5,000 miles. Tires in different locations of the car get worn differently so to keep the tires even, we rotate them for balanced ware.
- Evaluate- Check your tires regularly for signs of wear and damage. To evaluate if the tread depth to make sure that it is deep enough, insert a quarter upside down into one of the treads. If you are able to see above Washington’s head then it is time to buy new tires.
Under-inflated tires have rack up over 600 deaths and more than 33,000 injuries each year. Stop into the Shults Ford service center today to have your tires checked!
