As many of you know, the Ford Mustang celebrated its 50th anniversary recently and to commemorate the last 50 years, Ford celebrated in the same way it did with the very first Ford Mustang convertible: the put the 2015 Ford Mustang convertible on top of the Empire State Building. It’s sitting on the 86th floor observation deck to be exact.
As a country, we may be more technologically advanced than what we were 50 years ago, but the Mustang had to make its way to the top just like it did 50 years ago; on the only freight elevator. In order to do this, it had to be cut in precise measurements to make sure it would fit on the elevator and then be rebuilt when it reached the top.
From the videos below, those of us at Shults Ford of Harmarville can see what a time consuming and difficult project this was. This Michigan-based company built a mockup of the freight elevator, and then practiced the cuts on a second pre-production Ford Mustang convertible. They were ready when it came time to make the cuts on the Mustang being taken to the top.
The result certainly is astounding! What better way to celebrate the past 50 years of greatness?
We have learned throughout time that being able to talk to our technology and have it talk back, like in the case with Apple’s Siri, is not always fool proof and can sometimes end up being more of a hindrance than a help. But what if technology like that used with Siri could eventually expand to bigger technology, like, let’s just say, a car? Maybe even have it go as far as the vehicle can not only speak, but it has a personality of its own? At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we know that you probably already think of your Ford as part of your family, but if it had its own personality, it truly would seem to be like one of your very own.
While something like that might be a few years down the road from turning into reality, we can still toy with the idea. Ford Australia decided to pull the classic talking car prank and Aussie’s reactions were priceless.
In a new commercial for the Ford EcoSport compact crossover, those from Down Under seem pretty calm about holding a conversation with a randomly parked talking car, even when they are asked to get in the car, call a celebrity, and tell that celebrity a joke. Check out the video below for some great takes of this “talking” car and those unsuspecting individuals that get the chance to interact with it.
The Tonight Show host, Jimmy Fallon, has finally made his decision on which truck is the perfect choice for him. After a few weeks of researching, getting help from each angle, and wading through the many tweets from both fans of Fallon and automotive competitors, Jimmy has finally chosen the Ford F-150 King Ranch as the perfect pickup for him!
True to form, Fallon does not plan on flat out buying the new truck and instead, he plans to make it interesting. He has launched a dealership contest and has put 10 dealer representatives to the test. Named “Fingers on a 4×4”, each dealer rep must keep at least one hand on the truck. The last dealer standing will win the contest and get the sale from Jimmy! Fallon has made sure we can all enjoy the contest that is currently going on by providing a live stream of the dealers surrounding the truck.
We definitely wish we would have been chosen to play a part in this contest and get Jimmy his new truck, but we are also extremely happy that he has chosen such a great truck. Want to own a Ford F-150 King Ranch and match Jimmy Fallon? Visit us at Shults Ford of Harmarville because we would love to help you out!
We have had it told to us time and time again; never drink and drive. Whether it’s through a public service announcement, our parents, or we actually know someone that has been involved in an accident with a drunk driver, it’s something that every individual in America has heard multiple times throughout their lifetime. Ford has recently developed a suit that will simulate exactly what it feels like to be drunk and behind the wheel of a car, to hopefully really drive the message home that it’s in no way shape or form safe to get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
The suit is part of Ford’s Driving Skills for Life program, a program designed to give a free education to young people on things they wouldn’t normally learn in a traditional driving class. Each driver gets to put on goggles that impair their vision, headphones to make it harder to hear, and different sets of weights to throw them off balance. They are then put behind the wheel of a car with an instructor on a closed course and they get to discover what it actually feels like to drive drunk, and since they are completely aware of everything going on around them, the idea is to drive home the message of how unsafe getting behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated really is.
Check out the video below to learn more about the Ford simple suit and in the meantime, at Shults Ford of Harmarville, we ask that you always drink responsibly. It is never embarrassing to call for a ride or get a taxi when you have had too much to drink. It could save a life.
At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we are all about great finds when it comes to cool cars, but this most recent find is not only amazing, it’s rare. This discovery is none other than an unrestored, one-owner 1969 Shelby GT500, but that’s not even the best part. It only has 8,531 miles on it!
A man named Larry Brown, who recently passed away, owned the Shelby GT500, and since he had no wife or children to pass his things on to, the car will be auctioned off by Ron Gilligan Auctioneers.
The Mustang is still in pristine condition, having never been driven in the rain, as well as having garbage bags covering the seats and double floor mats covering the carpet. These precautions have helped to keep the car in amazing condition, especially considering it has been sitting in a barn for a number of years.
Mechanics say the 1969 Shelby GT500 is in great shape and with a new battery and a freshly filled gas tank, the 45 year old car started right up. According to Auto Trader Classics, a 1969 GT500 with over 75,000 miles on it goes for just under $90,000, but since Brown’s car has 8,531 miles, we are sure it will go for much more than that.
Interested in the auction? It will be held on April 25, 2014 at 12:30 PM EST. Check back for more details that are to come!
At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we were deeply saddened when we heard the news a few days ago that William Clay Ford Sr., the last living grandchild of the company founder, Henry Ford, passed away this past Sunday after fighting off a bout of pneumonia.
William served in many positions at the company over his 57 years as an employee, with his first position being elected to the Board of Directors in 1948, before he even graduated from Yale University in 1949. Nine years later, he was elected chairman of the Design Committee, which he went on to hold that position for the next 32 years. His eye for design and influential manner helped play a huge role in shaping the company into what it is today.
William Clay Ford Jr. had nothing but the highest regard for his father. “My father was a great business leader and humanitarian who dedicated his life to the company and the community. He also was a wonderful family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, yet he will continue to inspire us all,” he said.
Ford was a huge inspiration to the company and he will be greatly missed by all.
Contrary to previous reports of the need to close and retool some plants for the new aluminum 2015 Ford F-150, the Ford F-Series sales are still on the rise. Ford posted the best sales numbers in February 2014 that it has seen in 8 years.
America’s best-selling truck for the past 37 years has continued to make moves on the market, despite the rumors that the necessity to close some plants to get them ready for the 2015 Ford F-150 would slow the F-Series sales down for awhile. Not only has that not happened, but sales will continue to increase when the 2015 Ford F-150 will be added to the numbers later this year.
John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service, gave his reasoning for the highest February sales in 8 years. “Sales surged in the final week, providing us momentum after a slow start to the month. Ford Fusion continued its strong retail sales performance in the West, outpacing the mid-size sedan segment. F-Series and Lincoln also continued to perform well.”
At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we are proud to be the home of the best-selling truck in America, and even though some plants have closed to get ready for the 2015 Ford F-150, the continued increase in Ford F-Series sales goes to show what a truly amazing truck the F-150 really is.
These winter months seem to be stretching on forever and we are sure you have probably wished for a better way to clear your driveway and the roads of snow other than with a shovel or waiting for the city to clear it for you. Well Ford heard everyone’s cries regarding the winter blues, and they answered with an ingenious option added to the front of the 2015 Ford F-150: the snow plow prep option.
Eric Peterson, the Ford F-150 marketing manager, stated “the new 2015 F-150 is the toughest F-150 ever, and by using more high-strength steel in its frame and advanced materials in the body, we’ve made the new truck up to 700 pounds lighter. This leads to more capability and better handling, which is exactly what you’d want for plowing. Adding a snow plow prep kit to our lineup helps ensure our customers have even more tools at their disposal to get the job done.”
Whether it’s actually for a business or you just want to help your neighborhood by clearing the streets, the snow plow prep option for the new 2015 Ford F-150 sounds like a great idea. Do you like the idea but can’t see yourself ever using it? Not a problem, come on over to Shults Ford of Harmarville and we can help you find the perfect F-150 to fit your needs!
