What happens when you cross two American icons with one American dream? You get the Coca-Cola Journey. This September, Ford teamed up with Coca-Cola to take an all-American cross-country road trip. A customized 2017 Ford Escape compact SUV was decked out in classic Coke red, a special hashtag and, of course, a custom cooler for bottles of Coke in the rear cargo area.
Coca-Cola’s cross-country trip started at the Coca-Cola headquarters in Atlanta. Members of the Coca-Cola Journey team loaded into the 2017 Ford Escape and a matching motorhome that housed them along their way. The crew departed on September 13th with plans to arrive in Los Angeles on October 5th. Throughout their trip, they covered roughly 4,000 miles of America, making over 20 stops along the way in cities like Chicago, Dallas, Denver and Santa Fe.
Team members worked to document their trip using the hashtag #JourneyXJourney. This hashtag allowed them to connect with consumers on different social media platforms, while their presence in each city let them reach out to consumers one-on-one in person. Coca-Cola’s cross-country road trip team worked to capture their stories along the way, and to reconnect with the Coca-Cola brand’s deep ties to American culture across the country.

Ford has recently announced the first Ford vehicle with Apple CarPlay, the iPhone-connected CarPlay system. This vehicle will be the 2017 Ford Escape, which goes on sale this May. We have known since January that Ford was working on this connective technology, but now we have a first official release vehicle.
Ford stated that this technology will make the ownership experience easier, through features such as remote door lock and remote start. These vehicle features are available with the new FordPass platform. The Escape will also be the first vehicle to offer SYNC3, which features both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
The SYNC Connect option will also help with “driver-assist” technology, such as parking, and lane control. With CarPlay, drivers with iPhones can use iOS features through the dashboard display.
If you recently bought a Ford though, do not worry. Several of the 2016 models will be able to update the technology to use CarPlay through an upcoming software update.

The always-popular Ford F-150 topped the list of best-selling vehicles among military families. The Ford Escape was the highest ranking utility vehicle on the list, sitting at the number three spot. The Ford Focus sedan placed number nine on the list, rounding out the automaker’s diverse list of vehicles driven by American military families.
Seeing Ford models throughout the top 10 list is a humbling reality. It means the men and women who are willing to pay the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom are willing to trust us with their lives and the lives of their families. Ford’s flagship truck topped Forbes’ recent top ten list thanks in large part to an auto industry boom that has analysts predicting the best year for all things four-wheeled since 2006. Fending off the advances of redesigned competitor trucks and putting a greater emphasis on tech and fuel efficiency without sacrificing requisite power, Ford’s F-Series has moved 623,309 units through October. This amounts to a 19.8% year-over-year increase and a comfortable lead over the second-place vehicle.
Ironically enough, only half of Forbes’ ten best-selling cars for 2013 are truly cars: three are trucks and two are compact crossovers. Rounding out the top ten is the Ford Escape, whose 2014 redesign has made it a hit with drivers across North America and helped it gain substantial ground on the segment-leading CR-V in sales, ensuring a fight to the finish line. The hot-selling 2014 Ford Fusion, Focus, and Explorer also find themselves among the top 20, reaffirming Ford’s dominance across all segments.
