We have had it told to us time and time again; never drink and drive. Whether it’s through a public service announcement, our parents, or we actually know someone that has been involved in an accident with a drunk driver, it’s something that every individual in America has heard multiple times throughout their lifetime. Ford has recently developed a suit that will simulate exactly what it feels like to be drunk and behind the wheel of a car, to hopefully really drive the message home that it’s in no way shape or form safe to get behind the wheel while intoxicated.
The suit is part of Ford’s Driving Skills for Life program, a program designed to give a free education to young people on things they wouldn’t normally learn in a traditional driving class. Each driver gets to put on goggles that impair their vision, headphones to make it harder to hear, and different sets of weights to throw them off balance. They are then put behind the wheel of a car with an instructor on a closed course and they get to discover what it actually feels like to drive drunk, and since they are completely aware of everything going on around them, the idea is to drive home the message of how unsafe getting behind the wheel of a car while intoxicated really is.
Check out the video below to learn more about the Ford simple suit and in the meantime, at Shults Ford of Harmarville, we ask that you always drink responsibly. It is never embarrassing to call for a ride or get a taxi when you have had too much to drink. It could save a life.
At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we are all about great finds when it comes to cool cars, but this most recent find is not only amazing, it’s rare. This discovery is none other than an unrestored, one-owner 1969 Shelby GT500, but that’s not even the best part. It only has 8,531 miles on it!
A man named Larry Brown, who recently passed away, owned the Shelby GT500, and since he had no wife or children to pass his things on to, the car will be auctioned off by Ron Gilligan Auctioneers.
The Mustang is still in pristine condition, having never been driven in the rain, as well as having garbage bags covering the seats and double floor mats covering the carpet. These precautions have helped to keep the car in amazing condition, especially considering it has been sitting in a barn for a number of years.
Mechanics say the 1969 Shelby GT500 is in great shape and with a new battery and a freshly filled gas tank, the 45 year old car started right up. According to Auto Trader Classics, a 1969 GT500 with over 75,000 miles on it goes for just under $90,000, but since Brown’s car has 8,531 miles, we are sure it will go for much more than that.
Interested in the auction? It will be held on April 25, 2014 at 12:30 PM EST. Check back for more details that are to come!
At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we were deeply saddened when we heard the news a few days ago that William Clay Ford Sr., the last living grandchild of the company founder, Henry Ford, passed away this past Sunday after fighting off a bout of pneumonia.
William served in many positions at the company over his 57 years as an employee, with his first position being elected to the Board of Directors in 1948, before he even graduated from Yale University in 1949. Nine years later, he was elected chairman of the Design Committee, which he went on to hold that position for the next 32 years. His eye for design and influential manner helped play a huge role in shaping the company into what it is today.
William Clay Ford Jr. had nothing but the highest regard for his father. “My father was a great business leader and humanitarian who dedicated his life to the company and the community. He also was a wonderful family man, a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him, yet he will continue to inspire us all,” he said.
Ford was a huge inspiration to the company and he will be greatly missed by all.
Contrary to previous reports of the need to close and retool some plants for the new aluminum 2015 Ford F-150, the Ford F-Series sales are still on the rise. Ford posted the best sales numbers in February 2014 that it has seen in 8 years.
America’s best-selling truck for the past 37 years has continued to make moves on the market, despite the rumors that the necessity to close some plants to get them ready for the 2015 Ford F-150 would slow the F-Series sales down for awhile. Not only has that not happened, but sales will continue to increase when the 2015 Ford F-150 will be added to the numbers later this year.
John Felice, Ford vice president, U.S. marketing, sales and service, gave his reasoning for the highest February sales in 8 years. “Sales surged in the final week, providing us momentum after a slow start to the month. Ford Fusion continued its strong retail sales performance in the West, outpacing the mid-size sedan segment. F-Series and Lincoln also continued to perform well.”
At Shults Ford of Harmarville, we are proud to be the home of the best-selling truck in America, and even though some plants have closed to get ready for the 2015 Ford F-150, the continued increase in Ford F-Series sales goes to show what a truly amazing truck the F-150 really is.
When we think of Mobile World Congress, we usually think of the newest smartphones and tablets, updated technology for the little things that make our lives easier, and anything else related to this industry. We don’t normally think of the debut of a vehicle to be at Mobile World Congress, but this year, it is!
Ford is set to debut the new 2015 Focus. With so many changes to both the exterior and the interior, the premiere is sure to be an exciting one. The five-door hatchback with more defined headlights and a new grille up front that resembles the 2015 Ford Mustang are just a few of the changes that we can expect to see.
Ford’s 1.0-liter EcoBoost engine will be available for the six-speed manual transmission, but Ford hasn’t released the engine lineup yet for the available options, however, we can speculate that the 2.0-liter engine will still be available.
Seeing as how the basis for the Mobile World Congress is technology, what would it be to have a vehicle there without amazing technology to offer? There will be an 8-inch display for those with MyFord Touch®, which will also include SYNC 2 functionality and updated AppLink for the smartphone. The technology will also include more natural voice commands, as well as an enhanced Blind Spot Information System® that will warn you when you are changing lanes and can also prevent you from backing into traffic.
We are very excited for the premiere of the 2015 Focus. In the meantime, come visit us at Shults Ford of Harmarville and check out the many great Ford Focuses to choose from!
The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) recently gave the 2014 Ford Focus top safety ratings. The Ford Focus is no stranger to high safety ratings from the NHTSA, since it was just maintaining its status at the top. The federal government put together a new car safety rating program, which the Ford Focus, both the sedan and hatchback models, as well as the Ford Focus Electric, continued to earn a 5 star rating for their overall vehicle score.
So what exactly makes the 2014 Ford Focus so safe?
The Ford’s AdvanceTrac® electronic stability control and anit-lock brake system, which is standard in the Focus across the board, is the main reason for such a high safety rating. It is constantly keeping track of the road conditions and how the driver responds to those conditions, which in turn it will adjust itself to go along with the driver. Sounds pretty cool to us!

Some say Ford is taking a big risk with its introduction of the aluminum alloy body, others think it’s a genius idea to make America’s favorite truck 700 pounds lighter. Regardless of your opinion, Ford has recently stated that the production of the newest Ford F-150 will probably take a toll on profits for the short term.
To prepare for the newest edition to the F-series family, Ford is shutting down its Dearborn Truck Plant in Michigan for 11 weeks and the Ford Kansas City Assembly Plant in Missouri for 2 weeks. In these 13 weeks, no Ford F-150’s will be produced, more than likely causing profits on the #1 truck to dip.
Ford isn’t expecting to have another record-setting year like they did in 2013 due to closing down those plants for over two months, but rest assured, there will be plenty of Ford F-150’s in supply during the retooling process. With the F-150 being 31% of the 2013 Ford sales in the United States, they will work to make sure those trucks are still available while they prepare for the new 2015 Ford F-150.
We know that the idea of closing a couple of manufacturing plants for a couple of months can be a little nerve wracking when it comes to truck enthusiasts, but at Shults Ford of Harmarville, we will be sure to keep our Ford F-150’s in stock to keep up with the high demand of America’s favorite pickup!

Ford teamed up with fashion guru Rent the Runway to design a new Ford Fusion that no one can resist—not that many people could resist it in the first place, mind you.
Rent the Runway is a fashion group that rents high-end designer apparel and accessories on a 4- or 8- day basis. It was founded by Harvard Business School graduates Jennifer Hyman and Jennifer Carter Fleiss and now offers more than 50,000 designer dresses and accessories for fashion-oriented women.
Their partnership with Ford is culminating in a special Test-Drive Style campaign that will not only give customers a chance to win a $1,000 gift card for Rent the Runway’s dream closet but a brand-new Ford Fusion as well.
“With Rent the Runway’s affordable and accessible designer fashion and Fusion’s stunning design and smart technologies, we are joining forces to make great style available and seamless to the woman on the go,” said Amy Marentic, Ford group marketing manager.
But if you just want to get a Fusion the regular way, just come by Shults Ford!

At the halfway point in November, there are a number of things we can come to expect in the remaining month and a half of 2013: the Steelers resurgence, great food and bad traffic around Thanksgiving, the annual dose of gift-giving anxiety, and year-end best-of lists. Yet even with a little over a month to go for the year, you can pretty much call the race for best-selling car over, according to Forbes. The winner, however, is not a car; it’s the Ford F-150.
Ford’s flagship truck topped Forbes’ recent top ten list thanks in large part to an auto industry boom that has analysts predicting the best year for all things four-wheeled since 2006. Much of this surge is attributed to the emergent housing market, which means that so many of America’s hardest-working men and women have leaned on the talents of Ford’s F-Series to help them get the job done.
Fending off the advances of redesigned competitor trucks and putting a greater emphasis on tech and fuel efficiency without sacrificing requisite power, Ford’s F-Series has moved 623,309 units through October. This amounts to a 19.8% year-over-year increase and a comfortable lead over the second-place vehicle.
Ironically enough, only half of Forbes’ ten best-selling cars for 2013 are truly cars: three are trucks and two are compact crossovers. Rounding out the top ten is the Ford Escape, whose 2014 redesign has made it a hit with drivers across North America and helped it gain substantial ground on the segment-leading CR-V in sales, ensuring a fight to the finish line. The hot-selling 2014 Ford Fusion, Focus, and Explorer also find themselves among the top 20, reaffirming Ford’s dominance across all segments.
Remember that holiday shopping anxiety we mentioned before? If you want to allay those fears, consider getting the one you love behind the wheel of the best-selling car/truck/vehicle/super-tough-all-purpose-transportation-monster in America. It probably won’t fit under the tree too well, but it’d look a sight better than a Snuggie. Stop in and see us at Shults Ford today and make those spirits bright.
